Welcome back to "Another Photography Blog"! Today we are going to learn about the "Smudge Tool". It is on your toolbar under the "Blur Tool".

Photoshop toolbar

It is highlighted in Yellow Above.

Next we will want to download some cool smudge brushes!

Follow this link and scroll to step 1 (below the tiger pic)

http://www.gimpusers.com/tutorials/smudge-painting-technique

Click on the link for the zip file (linda_sara_brushes)

Open the zip file

To install Brushes in Photoshop Ps5

click "B" or select the brush tool from the tool bar

next go to

Brush Tool

Click arrow #2, then go to load brushes

"load brushes instruction"

When brushes are installed, switch back to your smudge tool, then go to

Window-Brush

This will open the Brush Window

Select #65 (if you have more than one with the same number use the one without spacing)

Now you are ready to start painting with your smudge brush #65.

Notice that your brush can be set to Lighten and Darken, as well as various Strength applied!

So we are going to Smudge Tool to Lighten

And our strength to 15%

And now Back to Anne

This is were we left off.

So with our brush set to lighten at 15%

We will paint carefully over the white part.

Next switch the brush mode to darken, and increase the strength to about 45%

Darken the outer part of the iris ( or just that ring that between the white part and the green part.

Next switch back and forth between lighten and darken and make the light parts of the iris lighter, and the dark

parts darker. It helps if you are working at about 200%

To Zoom In on your image  Hold Down The Control Key And The Space Bar the click your mouse!

Next we want to set our smudge tool to darken, increase strength to about 55%

Then use a very small brush to begin thickening the eye lashes.

as the lashes get longer make your brush smaller (remember, you can use the bracket keys for this)

So this is what it should look like............................
